Job Description

A nonprofit organization in Kihei has a full-time opening for a Drop-in Center Worker. This position is responsible for ensuring operations run smoothly and services are delivered to the center guests with the highest level of professionalism. This position is also in charge of coordinating volunteers for the centers. 


To be successful in this role, you will need at least one year of experience in a housing-related field and the ability to understand the dynamics of homelessness.


Addi​tional Responsibilities:


  • Provide and facilitate an environment that allows guests to utilize the full range of resources provided
  • Oversee reception duties including answering phones
  • Assist with case management services including shelter, housing, and employment referrals
  • Plan for and secure healthy meals and snacks for the drop-in center
  • Receive and process requests for clothing and toiletries
  • Oversee all aspects of volunteer management including leading orientation, coordinating projects, and providing feedback
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment


Required Education and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in a housing-related field 
  • General knowledge of accepted casework practices
  • Ability to maintain the confidence and security of clients
  • Must complete a state and CPS background check
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs 
  • Ability to interact with all types of people
  • Ability to problem solve and implement creative solutions
