We are currently seeking applicants for the Field Technician position on Lānaʻi. A Part Time Field Technician carries out general conservation field work under close supervision by a Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule similar to an “on-call” availability. A Field Technician will act in the best interest of the company, act in the best interest of other employees, and act in a fair, safe, effective, and legal manner.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
ꞏ Fully vaccinated for COVID 19
ꞏ Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
ꞏ Reliable vehicle or other reliable form of transportation
ꞏ Ability to read, write, and understand (English) equipment and product labels for safety
ꞏ Follow directions while working in small groups or independently
ꞏ Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
ꞏ Maintain excellent communication, verbal and written (English)
ꞏ Willing and able to perform physically challenging work in harsh conditions for 8-10 hours a day
ꞏ Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
ꞏ Ability to pass a background check and/or gain military base access clearance
ꞏ Ability to camp in remote areas for multiple days at a time and/or travel occasionally
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
ꞏ Tree felling experience
ꞏ Interest in preserving Hawaiʻi’s native plants, animals, and ecosystems
ꞏ Familiarity with both native and invasive species identification
ꞏ Familiarity operating power tools such as chainsaws, weed trimmers, etc.
ꞏ State of Hawaiʻi Pesticide Applicator license
ꞏ Experience operating/working with machinery (excavator, skid steer, etc.)
ꞏ Helicopter (passenger) experience
SCHEDULE
ꞏPart Time (30-40 hours per week, largely dependent upon weather and projects). This position requires a flexible schedule. Needs the ability to work 1-2+ weeks at a time, and be down from work for similar times.
COMPENSATION
