Job Description

Island School (ischool.org) seeks a Development Associate. Reporting to the Director of Development, the successful candidate will build relationships with community members to garner philanthropic support for Island School. The role includes administrative, systematic, and creative support of all areas of the fundraising team. The associate will support the execution of operational elements of the annual fundraising plan and interact with donors on-site and at fundraising events. The work involves processing and acknowledging gifts in close cooperation with finance, managing the donor database system, assisting with donor cultivation and stewardship, assisting with grant proposals, providing support for fundraising events, and performing other duties as may be assigned in relation to the support of Island School’s philanthropic activities. The associate is instrumental in achieving our fundraising goals and supporting a strong culture of philanthropy at Island School.   

Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of 490+ students. Qualifications include:

  • Skills/Knowledge: Excellent people skills, communication skills (written and verbal), critical thinking ability, and time management skills; ability to maintain positive relations with donors and staff to ensure the integrity of development processes; strong technical skills in database management or customer relationship management applications.
  • Education/Experience: Experience or education in fundraising, communications, marketing, or related fields are preferred.
  • References from a previous employer(s) certifying reliability and satisfactory performance are desirable.
