Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases (ELC) Registered Nurse
Up to $8,885 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience
Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. The primary purpose of this position is to provide family-centered care coordination, intervention services to individuals/families with the most significant health, social, and economic needs; to develop, implement, and evaluate multidisciplinary teams to maximize utilization of existing resources and services in meeting the needs of this target population; and to establish partnerships with the community in identifying and meeting the needs of the community, particularly the vulnerable, at-risk populations. This position is to be lead in contact investigations for the island of Kauai for COVID-19.
Minimum Qualification(s)
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; or graduation from a college or university of recognized standing including or supplemented by a program for preparation in public health nursing, approved by the National League for Nursing.
EXPERIENCE: One and a half (1-½) years experience in public health nursing, or a combination of three (3) years public health nursing and one (1) year in communicable disease nursing.
The Public Health Nursing experience must have involved some acute and chronic disease care management in various settings in the community and with multiple client demographics and demonstrated the nursing process in a community-based setting.
The Public Health Nursing experience must have involved collaboration with an agency or specific population to develop a program to improve health management behaviors or increase awareness.
Overall experience must have been of such a scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that the applicant can perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
LICENSE: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii.
Valid Driver’s license (State of Hawaii preferred) and access to motor vehicle preferred.

This position is exempt from civil service. Employment in such positions is considered to be “at will.” This position can be up to a 24-month appointment, federally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for the budget period beginning August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2021.
