Maintenance/Custodial Specialist

Island School (ischool.org) is urgently seeking a full-time Maintenance/Custodial Specialist (12 month position).

Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of almost 500 students. The school is located on the rural island of Kaua`i, the northwestern most inhabited island in the Hawaiian archipelago. Island School is located on the island of Kaua'i, the northernmost inhabited island of the Hawaiian Island chain, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island."

The successful candidate will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of school facilities and daily setup/clean up of the Main Hall Cafeteria and related spaces during mealtimes on school days.  In addition, person may serve as a liaison between island School and outside contractors in matters requiring outside services. 

Minimum qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred (able to read, write, measure and compute)
• Training in a craft or trade preferred.
• Previous experience doing simple repairs or working as a handyman or custodian.
• Able to troubleshoot and/or repair facilities including skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, landscaping, and custodial working with the facilties team.  
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with parents, students, faculty, and staff.
