Island School (ischool.org) seeks a high school Math Teacher with a commitment to independent school education in a college preparatory environment. The full-time position for the 2023-24 academic year includes teaching five classes (usually 2 or 3 courses), which may include a combination of courses ranging from Algebra 1 to Honors Pre-Calculus.
Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of almost 500 students. The school is located on the rural island of Kaua`i, the northwestern most inhabited island in the Hawaiian archipelago. The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have experience differentiating instruction to work effectively with a range of learners, demonstrate a passion for teaching math and demonstrate effective classroom management strategies. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in teaching math at the high school level, hold a minimum of a B.S. in math or education. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor, full participation in the life of the school, leading a club or other initiative, and/or coaching. 2 + years of relevant teaching experience in a non-profit, independent school preferred.Minimum Qualifications include:
