Job Description

Island School (ischool.org) seeks a School Bus Driver for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year and onward. The position is full-time and begins in mid-January  for the 2025-2026 academic year.  Under the direction of the Director of Campus Operations and Transportation Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving Island School buses, transporting students to and from their designated bus stops and the schoolʻs campus, school events including field trips, student activities before, during, and after school hours and to special events as required. Drivers ensure safety for all bus passengers and adhere to the assigned bus schedule.  Salary Range - $25 to $27 per hour depending on experience. Island School covers costs of license update training and endorsements, as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License from the State of Hawaii
  • Provide a current clear traffic abstract and proof of insurance.
  • Willingness to submit to random drug screenings.
  • CDL School Bus License/endorsements or agree to acquire.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Able to speak effectively and communicate on several levels (adults, children, school faculty/staff)

Understands duties and responsibilities, has necessary job knowledge, has necessary technical skills, understands schoolʻs mission/values, keeps job knowledge current, is in command of critical issues.
