A locally owned excavating and contracting business is seeking an immediate full-time Heavy Equipment Operator. The ideal candidate must be able to drive and control construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, blades, rock trucks, graders, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.

Full-time, Monday to Friday

Location

Makawao, Maui

Pay

$30 to $42 an hour

Responsibilities

• Assist and work with line crew with digging ditches and trenches.
• Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers, fuel as needed.
• Ensure company equipment, materials, and work site are maintained.
• Inspect and ensure equipment and machinery are safe for day-to-day operation.
• Move, load, and spread materials throughout work site using equipment.
• Collect, dispose of scrap and excess materials.
• Excavate for pipe, drainage, and utility installation and perform backfilling as necessary.
• Provide direction to employees assisting with installation and encourage workplace safety.
• Perform grading and top loading operations, using traditional laser methods and/or laser guided equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator required.
• Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsement preferred.
• Understand different hand signals used to signal operators of construction machinery.
• Ability to lift and carry 100lbs.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stand, walk, climb on/off or under various equipment, and push/pull as required.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
• Motivated, dependable, hardworking.
