About the Position:

P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. is seeking a **Part-Time KAU Parent Educator** to facilitate community-based parenting education classes in support of our mission to strengthen families and promote cycles of positive parenting.

Parenting classes are offered at varied times and days, including daytime, evening, and Saturday sessions. Educators may facilitate one or more weekly classes based on availability.

Classes are conducted:

* In person in Pāhoa or Kaʻū areas

* Or virtually via Zoom

Travel throughout the greater Hilo and Kaʻū areas is required.

Key Responsibilities

The Parent Educator is responsible for:

* Facilitating parenting education classes using agency-approved curriculum

* Applying approved classroom management techniques

* Creating a supportive and structured learning environment for adult participants

* Collaborating effectively with management, co-workers, and program participants

* Completing all required documentation accurately and by established deadlines

* Adhering to all agency policies and procedures

* Maintaining professionalism and quality assurance standards

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution

* Minimum of one (1) year experience working with:

* Parents/caregivers who have harmed or threatened harm to their children

* Children who have experienced harm, trauma, or loss

* Knowledge, skills, and ability to work with adults in a group setting

* Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently

* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

* Ability to pass required background checks

* Must maintain appropriate motor vehicle insurance as required by agency and/or contractual standards

* Willingness to travel to all areas of the island

Preferred:

* Experience facilitating adult groups or educational classes

Compensation & Benefits:

* Hourly wage: $20 – $24 per hour, commensurate with education and experience
