Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases (ELC) Accountant

$4,242 - $5,178 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience


Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment.  The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional accounting work and financial management services for the State Laboratories Division (SLD).  Through oversight of daily fiscal transactions as well as analysis and interpretation of fiscal data, the position assists the Administrative Officer V (AO) in making sound financial management decisions to ensure that program objectives, operations, and contracts are performed in a fiscally prudent manner in accordance with federal and state regulations.



Minimum Qualification(s)


EDUCATION:    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business consisting of at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.


Other Qualifying Education Master’s degree in Accounting (MAcc) – applicants who possess a master’s degree in accounting or a master’s degree with accounting and/or auditing coursework equivalent to a master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university, will be deemed to have met all the experience requirements for the class Accountant III.


EXPERIENCE:   At least one and one-half (1 ½) years’ experience of specialized experience in GAAP and generally accepted government accounting standards which demonstrated possession of knowledge and ability required to analyze data, detect errors, and correct inconsistencies in accounting records.


LICENSE:  Applicable certificates in the financial or accounting fields, with national recognition preferred.  Valid Hawaii driver’s license is preferred.
