Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases (ELC) Secretary

$3,425 - $4,168 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, Non-Civil Service, Full-Time, Temporary Appointment.  This position is located in the State Laboratories Division Medical Microbiology Branch’s Administration Office, Hawaii State Department of Health.  The Branch is responsible for providing diagnostic, consultative and reference related services to other programs in the department, other state agencies, health institutions, private physicians and others to assist in the diagnosis and control communicable diseases. 

 

This position provides the necessary administrative/office management duties and clerical services required by the Medical Microbiology Branch Administrative Office and assigned Sections and personnel.

 

 

Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:  Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Six (6) months of work experience with demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic; ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; write simply and directly and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.

 

Twelve (12) months of work experience which involved the performance of a variety of clerical tasks and demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures, and the ability to carry out procedures in clerical work systems and operate various kinds of office equipment and technologies.

 

Three (3) years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical work experience which includes the full range of office services in records and files maintenance, word and mail processing, purchasing, inventory control, budget preparation, and personnel services.  Experience such as typing of correspondence, reports and other materials, which demonstrates knowledge of English grammar, spelling and math.
