KMWP PROGRAM & DATA ASSISTANT – ID# 18297

 

Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit.  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), Ko‘olau Mountains Watershed Partnership (KMWP), located in Pearl City, Oahu.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $2,424-$4,372/Mon. 

 

DUTIES: Responsible for general program support duties required to efficiently administer a natural resources research and protection project with seven to twenty (7-20) employees and volunteers protecting over 100,000 acres of forested watershed.  Manages and organizes all support activities for the project including travel, timekeeping, purchasing, and other Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) and University documents. Manages and tracks budget/expenditures for project grants and prepares financial summaries. Assists in the development of proposals and management of proposed project budgets. Manages, maintains and organizes accurate records and files on all project activities and assists with the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and reports on accomplishments and activities.    Assists with organization and operations for an associated non-profit corporation, ‘Ohu ‘Ohu Ko‘olau Inc. Assists with project data and analysis including tracking deliverables to ensure timely completion of field work and reports.

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with coursework/training in program and data management applications from an accredited institution. EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of experience providing office management with budget formulation and maintenance. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Knowledge of office/business management practices. Knowledge of procurement actions/practices. Knowledge of office administration and basic accounting. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.  Ability to track and manage budgets. Proficient in use of computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, etc.) and data entry with accuracy, word processing and Internet use.  Use and maintenance of office equipment.  Ability to manage an office/project in an organized and efficient manner.  Ability to communicate orally and in writing, and to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding personnel and budgetary matters.  Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Must be able to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle with automatic transmission.  Post Offer/Employment Condition:Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.   Must possess the American Red Cross Certification in First Aid/CPR (or be able to obtain the certificate following the training provided within three (3) months from date of hire) and maintain throughout duration of employment.  Must be able to complete basic helicopter safety (A100) course within six (6) months of hire.  PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds unassisted. POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:  As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).  

 

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Familiarity with procurement and human resources policies and procedures of the Research Corporation of University of Hawai‘i. Skills and experience with Microsoft Access, QuickBooks®, and ArcGIS programs.  Familiarity with office networking and information technology management. Experience in project management, grant writing, preparing written reports and interpretation of data. Familiarity with basic biological principles especially pertaining to Hawaiian ecosystems and the threats from alien/invasive species.
