Position Summary:


The Estimator / Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the estimating and project management process, from bid preparation through project closeout. This role requires effective communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams; strict compliance with applicable federal and state regulations; and efficient coordination of project start-up and execution. The Estimator / Project Manager is accountable for ensuring projects are completed profitably, within estimated costs, on schedule, and in accordance with company standards for quality and safety.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Estimating & Pre-Construction

  • Manage all aspects of the estimating process, including preparing bid documents; interpreting plans and specifications; performing quantity take-offs; developing accurate cost estimates; conducting job checks; refining pricing strategies; and pricing change orders.
  • Communicate regularly with customers and vendors to develop accurate and timely bids.
  • Identify and evaluate project risks, scope clarifications, and cost impacts during the estimating phase.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Project Start-Up

  • Facilitate a smooth transition from estimating to the project team with a clear understanding of project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Submit required notifications and permits as applicable.
  • Attend and participate in pre-construction meetings.
  • Coordinate site access requirements, including keys, parking, passes, and security protocols.
  • Meet with the Field Superintendent as needed to review project scope, plans, specifications, approved submittals, and execution strategy.
  • Prepare and review job start-up documentation, including material and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinate special project requirements such as travel, waste disposal, testing, subcontractors, and air monitoring.

Field Operations & Project Management

  • Personally inspect each assigned project at a minimum of two days per week.
  • Review daily reports and timesheets; submit payroll information accurately and on time.
  • Analyze and manage resource utilization, including crew size, equipment, and means and methods.
  • Identify and resolve jobsite issues promptly.
  • Monitor project costs, productivity, and schedules to ensure profitable completion within the approved budget.
  • Meet or exceed original scheduled completion dates whenever possible.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and progress at weekly production meetings.
  • Identify and pursue potential change order opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Field Superintendent to manage quality control, safety, productivity, and operational performance.

Administrative & Financial

  • Work with the management team to project percent complete and amount to bill in a timely manner.
  • Review and ensure all project closeout documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

Communication & Professional Standards

  • Maintain regular and direct communication with the Vice President and Operations Department.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and function effectively as both a team leader and team member.

  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with Owners and General Contractors to support long-term business success.
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge, responsiveness, and customer focus when assisting Owners and General Contractors in developing workable solutions.
  • Ability to identify and pursue leads in a manner that results in successful, negotiated work.

Education, Training, and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in General Construction Estimating and/or Project Management.
  • Valid driver’s license.
