Job Description
Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science PCS seeks the following positions for the 2025-2026 school year:


Elective Instructor - Hawaiian Language

Grades 9-12

Tue and Thu 12:30-2:00 + 30 min prep

 

Elective Instructor - Hawaiian Studies

Grades K-6 and/or 7-8

To be determined based on school needs and applicant/employee availability.

 

Summary:

Plans, organizes and implements appropriate Hawaiian Language or Hawaiian Studies instruction in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential. Creates and delivers instruction. Develops and expands curriculum. Monitors student progress. Communicates with students and parents. Hawaiian Studies position participates in developing a Hawaiian culture program and activities including Ho’ike and Makahiki. 

 

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

Relevant experience working with school age children.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Hawaiian Language: Must be proficient in Hawaiian Language.

Hawaiian Studies: Requires travel to multiple sites. Requires valid driver license, satisfactory traffic abstract and access to a registered insured vehicle.

 

Must be ethical and honest.  Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, follow-through, and oral and written communication skills. Must be extremely flexible and able to work independently.

Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with technology and software programs, and be able to acquire additional skills for use of software, databases or other information systems as necessary.

Must be able to meet professional obligations through effective work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others. Must be able to successfully analyze information, manage complexity, report results, enter data, and observe school and state policies as well as state and federal laws with attention to detail, confidentiality, and thoroughness.  Must accept responsibility and be self-motivated.  Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to employees, students and parents and work effectively with school staff, district personnel, and the general public.
