Job Description

A company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join their dynamic finance team on a temporary basis. This position plays a vital role in supporting accounting operations while ensuring compliance with established standards and maintaining accurate financial records. This is a temporary, project-based role with an anticipated duration through the end of the calendar year, offering a high-impact opportunity for the right professional.

Full-time, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm with some evenings and weekends as needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support to the accounting team while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain product and material inventory control reports to reconcile receipts, sales, usage, and physical inventory.
  • Organize and process miscellaneous payable documents following proper auditing and final verification of FAP authorization.
  • Coordinate with DBS for AP batch processing, vendor maintenance, payment follow-up, and resolution of vendor issues or statements.
  • Manage City and County DMV documentation and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements to ensure vehicle compliance.
  • Track semi-annual lease payments, issue payment documentation, and monitor Property Management related expenses.
  • Manage QuickBooks maintenance, including customer and product lists, recording payments, and generating customized reports.
  • Support accounts receivable (AR) functions for platforms including AAFES, Square, Shopify, Costco, and SPS Commerce.
  • Record all cash receipts, lockbox, and direct deposit payments; enter receivable payments and discounts into the AR system.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations, report balances to Corporate Treasury, and execute banking functions such as letters of credit and wire transfers.
  • Maintain a control log of periodic transactions and perform data entry for all entries not automatically uploaded to the general ledger.
  • Prepare special governmental filings and reports, including 1099s, fuel tax exemptions, and GET filings.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and vendors regarding transaction status.
  • Prepare standard periodic and annual accounting statements, including the FALCON reporting package, federal/state reports, insurable values, and inter-company charge reconciliations.
  • Uphold ethical standards promulgated by the National Association of Accountants, including competence, confidentiality, integrity, and objectivity.
  • Ensure a safe and healthful working environment by enforcing safety rules and participating in company safety programs.
  • Perform various related administrative duties and special assignments as requested.

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of five years of accounting experience, including a background in auditing.
  • Demonstrate excellent computer skills and proficiency with state-of-the-art business hardware and software applications.
  • Exhibit expanded conceptual knowledge of the accounting discipline and broadened technical capabilities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of key business drivers and financial operations.
  • Showcase excellent verbal and written communication skills for vendor liaison and internal reporting.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the assignment through the end of the year.
  • Commitment to adhering to corporate records retention policies and ethical conduct standards.
