Job Description

We are seeking a Counselor Aide (On-Call) to join our O'hana! You will work alongside fellow Counselors, Clinical Staff, and leadership to provide high quality patient care.


  • Provide patient care under direction of clinical leadership team
  • Administer prescribed medications to patients and accurate completions of medication monitoring logs
  • Monitoring and supervising client’s behavior, enforcing directives, house rules and policy and procedures
  • Redirect negative behaviors of clients through immediate correction.
  • Assist in the transport of patients
  • Provide companionship and basic care to patients
  • Maintain a clean and healthy environment
  • Assists in maintaining accurate records of client’s activities, telephone logs, sign-in/sign-out logs and clinical files


  • Previous experience in nursing, patient care, or other related fields
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Familiarity with clinical/counseling terminology
  • Must be self-motivated and a team player; must have initiative and integrity, must be an effective communicator and problem solver with mediation skills
  • Should have recent training and/or experience which facilitates ready understanding of the duties described
  • Proven track record of successfully communicate and otherwise positively interact with the staff, residents, and volunteers of HKO and community resources
  • Must protect the confidentiality of all former, present, and future residents of HKO


  • Current/valid Hawai‘i State driver’s license and clean driving abstract
  • Current CPR, First Aid certification, and Tuberculosis clearance
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to further learn the history, culture, and lifestyles of the local population, especially those of the Native Hawaiian population
  • Must adhere to ethical behavior through compliance with HKO’s Code of Conduct and the standards set forth in 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA
