Job Description
A Parts Coordinator in an auto body shop is responsible for sourcing, organizing, and preparing all parts required for collision repairs. This role works closely with estimators and auto body technicians to ensure the correct parts are ordered, verified through mirror matching, and staged in advance of repairs. The Parts Coordinator helps maintain workflow efficiency by minimizing delays, managing invoicing, and keeping accurate inventory and documentation.
Job Descriptioin:
- Review repair estimates and order all required parts for each job
- Perform mirror matching to verify parts are correct, undamaged, and compatible before repairs begin
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming parts for accuracy and quality
- Stage and organize parts by repair order for technicians
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding orders, delays, and returns
- Process invoices, match them to purchase orders, and ensure accurate billing
- Handle returns, core parts, and warranty claims
- Maintain a clean, organized parts area and accurate inventory records
- Coordinate with estimators and technicians to prevent repair delays
- Knowledge of automotive parts and collision repair processes
- Strong attention to detail (critical for mirror matching and accuracy)
- Organizational and time management skills
- Basic computer and invoicing system proficiency
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced shop environment
- Good communication skills for working with team members and vendors
