Job Description




This position is responsible for the planning, operation, and evaluation of nutrition, exercise fitness, gardening, and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services at the Waimanalo Health Center in accordance with existing laws, policies, rules and regulations. This position is allocated 50% time for administrative duties and 50% time for direct client, group, or community counseling or education. Provides nutrition education and counseling to all Waimanalo Health Center clients in a culturally sensitive, patient-centered manner, with a team-based approach to care.  Creates nutritional programs to promote increased nutritional awareness for patients with chronic disease, as well as general health and wellness.  Does nutritional counseling for high-risk obstetrical patients through the WIC program. 




Certificate of graduation from an accredited nutrition program with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition, and must be a Registered Dietitian and a Licensed Dietitian in the state of Hawaii.


Experience in a Community Health Care Setting is desired. 


Experience in direct patient care, particularly with diabetic patients, is preferred, preferably at least 3 years of experience.


Experience working with Electronic Health Records, particularly NextGen, is helpful but not required.




This position has supervisory responsibilities for all Health Promotion and Disease Prevention staff, including Registered Dietitians, Prevention Care Coordinator, and the WIC program supervisor
