Pandemic Response Expansion Project (PREP)

Bilingual Health Aide (BHA)

$4,183 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment.  The Pandemic Response Expansion Project (PREP) Bilingual Health Aide (BHA) positions will be responsible for: 1) providing a direct line of support to recent immigrants, migrants, and limited and non-English proficient (LEP) populations assuring access to and understanding of health promotion, prevention, education, and health services; 2) interpreting and educating individuals, families, and groups on preventative health measures and strategies, health resources within the community, and state health regulations and requirements; 3) conducting and assisting in home visits and assessments that require additional health education, screening, management, treatment, or care; 4) completing BHA Registration forms, reviewing and assessing information, ensuring referrals of LEP clients in need of screening, medical, healthcare, treatment, or other services for preventative management, and following up to confirm continuity of care; and 5) working with other clinical and community health workers to provide cultural interpretation services.

 

Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma, some college preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Prior experience and training in health education, social work, nursing, public health, and allied health professions desirable.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, ETC.:  Valid State of Hawaii Driver's License - Class 3, required.

 

Must be bilingual and be fluent in one of the following languages: Filipino (llocano, Tagalog, Visayan), Samoan, Hawaiian, Korean, Chinese, Marshallese, Chuukese, Vietnamese, or other languages as determined by the Department of Health.
