Job Description

Our client in the medical field is looking for a Health Information Assistant to perform a variety of clerical duties to maintain their patient?s medical records. Duties can include, and are not limited to, filing, scanning, retrieving, and electronically storing related documents in accordance with established priorities and procedures.

We are looking for candidates with a high level of administrative skills, who can maintain strict patient confidentiality, and who currently have their TB clearance and their COVID-19 vaccination as required by the client.

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm


Waimanalo, Oahu


$15 to $18 an hour


  • Handle incoming phone calls, transfer calls, take messages.
  • Review patient data (received electronically) and save data to the appropriate patient chart or file.
  • Collect, review, and scan hardcopy of patient information and save the data to the appropriate patient chart or file.
  • Examine patient medical records for completeness, ensuring all information is included, note any deficiency, and refer to appropriate clinical department for follow up.
  • Obtain required provider signatures for records requiring a signature and then save records to the appropriate patient chart or file.
  • Retrieve, file, and send medical records as requested by departments/clinics within the organization.
  • Maintain open communication with other clinic team members and staff.
  • Identify and ensure all required forms are included in patients' clinical records.
  • Assist team in other job duties within his/her capabilities, to aid the clinic team in providing good efficient patient care.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.


  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED and/or 3+ years of work experience may be substituted for this requirement.
  • Previous relevant experience in the health care industry preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal).
  • General knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office incl. Excel and Teams (for scheduling internal/external meetings, project work).
  • Ability to understand and use medical terminology.
  • Ability to problem solve, respond to patient inquiries and complaints.
  • Two-Step tuberculosis clearance and COVID-19 vaccination required by client for this position. This is not an ALTRES Staffing requirement.
