Our client is seeking a dedicated Driver and Shop Helper to be a key part of our structural steel fabrication team! This is a dynamic role where your primary responsibility will be on the road, but you'll also be an invaluable asset in the shop, contributing to our productivity and quality. This is a great opportunity to learn a skilled trade on the job! You will assist welders with moving materials, handling incoming and outgoing supply orders, loading steel onto trucks and other general warehouse duties.

Pay

$20 to $22 an hour

Responsibilities

• Operate a flatbed truck for local and regional deliveries of structural steel materials.
• Load, secure, and tie down diverse structural steel components, ensuring safe transport.
• Perform structural steel welding as needed in the shop.
• Assist fabricators and welders with various tasks, including moving steel, preparing materials, and general clean-up.
• Help keep shop organized and clean at all times.
• Be prepared to help wherever needed, demonstrating a "can-do" attitude to keep operations running smoothly.
• Assist with basic vehicle maintenance, including checking fluid levels and performing minor engine repairs.

Qualifications

• Proven Driving Experience.
• Valid and current DOT Medical Card is required.
• No welding experience required.
• Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics for fluid checks and minor repairs.
• Strong work ethic, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in a shop environment.
• Clean driving abstract preferred
